Championship Game Set, Taggart Fired

Nov. 26, 2022, 7:58 p.m.

UTSA will host UNT (again) in the league title game on December 2nd, at 6:30 pm. The Roadrunners knew they would host coming into this weekend, but were playing UTEP for the status of undefeated in league play. They went 8-0 after coming back and winning on a late field goal by Sackett to seal the game.

North Texas needed a WKU loss or a win vs Rice. They got the latter, thanks to some defense (KD Davis interception) and some heroics by the punter Bernardo Rodriguez. He snagged a snap that was going over his head and managed to get it down the field. NT held Rice over the final four minutes to win the game.

North Texas is a hobbled version of themselves compared to the October 22nd team that gave UTSA just about all they could handle. The four-headed running back monster is down to about 1.35, and the defense is missing some pieces. UTSA is hurting as well, and famously started a DT at left tackle in the last meeting.
