CUSA Report

Everything Is Clearer Now

Nov. 7, 2022, 8:57 a.m.

November brings clarity to a football season. By this time, we have had contenders – or pretenders – reveal themselves and test themselves on the field.

Earlier in the year we thought Middle Tennessee was going to be a contender after beating Miami, but it turns out the U was garbage. Middle fell apart quickly, looking like a member of the bottom third of this league.

You probably considered UAB a contender far longer than they actually were. While they have talent, and the program still has winners on it, they are a shadow of the Clark teams.

UTSA are still made of championship stuff, and the surprise team of last season – WKU – was tested twice and came up wanting. UNT stepped up and is now the challenger du jour. We wondered if there was some hints of a paper tiger in Denton, but having competed well and boasting a 10-1 record in conference play since the Marshall game in 2021, it is time to say “they are a good CUSA team.”
