I was browsing through some stats on cbstats.com and noticed the touchdown count so far. WKU has 12 in two games, and FAU has 10 in the same number. North Texas and Charlotte have played two and only managed 5. FIU also has five but 3 of which came against an FCS opponent. We can laugh or whatever, but UAB’s 8 came in one game vs one FCS opponent as well. As you might imagine, the leading touchdown getter is usually the highest scoring program in the league.
2021 TD Final Numbers
An exception was NT/ODU. The Monarchs averaged 27.6 while NT averaged 27.5 even thought NT had four more scores. ODU’s seven more FGs, 2 two-point conversions and one safety helped put them over the mark. It helps, but in general touchdown-getting is the key. Again, that is wildly unsurprising.
